Weekend Getaway | San Francisco & Santa Cruz

Thursday, May 18, 2017

My boyfriend had a work conference in California this weekend so I took a couple vacation days to sneak off to California to be with him. I'm always sad to burn vacation days, but this was a very worthy reason- getting out of the last of the cold Minnesota weather!

I flew into SFO and stayed with him there that night, that way we got to explore the Fisherman's Wharf in the morning. After some good seafood at the wharf (and a parking ticket, oops!), we hopped in our rental car and drove down the scenic 101. We booked a beach side place in Santa Cruz (Casablanca Inn) for the night and hit the road.

The 101 has some incredible views on the way! Taking your time on the trip to stop at the roadside restaurants and towns really made the trip.

Scenes from our road trip! I think going on a road trip is one of the best ways to get to know someone!

We woke up early the next morning and took a long walk on the beach, it was deserted (a benefit of staying in Santa Cruz on a Thursday). SC is one of my favorite California beach towns because they have a super cute downtown!

Dumping the Drop Ceiling

As much as I love my house, there is one major feature that I don't love- the drop ceiling!  Unfortunately it's a prominent feature ...
