The Carlsbad Caper

Good thing I know the airport like the back of my hand, because I hopped on another plane to Phoenix to see my sweetheart for a belated Valentines' Day. We're both counting down the days until we're in the same city. Until then, we get to sneak away and pretend vacation in each others' cities. It's a nice compromise!

He loves to plan surprises me, and this time was no exception. The only clue I had was to pack beach clothes, so I assumed we were road tripping to Southern California again.

After a lovely day in Phoenix (I flew in on a Thursday and he had to work Friday), we road tripped out West. I was sure we were headed to San Diego- which we were! The issue was that once we got there, we didn't stop! We didn't stop until we got to an oceanfront room at the Cape Del Rey in Carlsbad, which is about an hour north of San Diego.

I'm starting to think he might be a keeper with all these surprises.

Once we relieved ourselves of our luggage, we went for a long stroll on the beach and skipped stones into the waves. How is it possible to be depressed when you're listening to ocean waves? I think I might need to invest in a sound machine so I can always feel this zen.
